Our Approach

At Mode Mischief Studios, we are dedicated to creating fashion that reflects a more mindful approach, in terms of production and consumerism - working against the fast fashion industry. We encourage consumers to shop consciously and make more intentional choices that support a healthier industry.

Our Values

We design and engineer every garment locally, working with highly skilled and experienced pattern professionals. This ensures we take a hands on approach with the fit and tailoring of each garment we design.

At every opportunity, we aim to manufacture our garments and select collections in Australia. We are mindful it is a very small industry and do our best to support it at the capacity it requires. Our local Australian manufacturers include small family-run businesses with a 30+ years of industry knowledge and experience.

In response to recent closures of Australian factories, we have recently extended production partnerships with overseas manufacturers. We work with responsible family-run manufactures in small towns within Asia, to produce technically-advanced and higher quality garments, often not possible within Australia’s manufacturing infrastructure. This decision was also an investment into the quality and technical advancement of our garments down to every detail and stitch.

We retain close partnerships with our local and oversees manufacturers, and take pride in our strong personal involvement in our production process - ensuring high quality, attention to detail and responsible production. 

While we lean towards natural fibres such as wool, rayon, cotton, and bamboo, we thoughtfully choose materials that best serve the longevity and feel of our designs. Each order is carefully wrapped in biodegradable shipping bags, reducing unnecessary plastic waste and pollution. With our commitment to sustainable efforts, Mode Mischief Studios garments are individually enclosed in dissolvable, recyclable, or reusable packaging. As an example of our efforts for low waste, we often reuse offcut fabric to create headbands or trimmings.
